An evening of Art and Connection

An evening of Art and Connection

Join us at the Brooklyn Apothecary on Saturday March 28th at 6:30pm with artist Caro Arévalo for a hands-on ink drawing workshop inspired by plants and fungi where we will learn how to create botanical ink illustrations. In this workshop we will learn how to work with different drawing techniques, using resources such as line, texture, shadows and patterns with a few simple tools. Each of us will create their own illustration infused with the energetics from the plants and fungi. An evening of Art and Connection amongst plants and people. All levels of drawers welcome!

Included:

  • Art supplies
  • Herbals tea
  • 15% off Anima Mundi products in store

Caro is a Peruvian visual artist based in Woodstock, NY. Her artwork explores the plant and fungi kingdoms as seen with our naked eyes and through the microscopes. From her Amazonian heritage, Caro embraces the interconnectedness of all beings, the significance of rituals and ancestral wisdom in deepening our connection with nature and thus, our day to day lives. Through her paintings, classes and videos, Caro invites us to cultivate more love towards ourselves and our planet, staying creative, curious and aligned with our purpose in the world.

Her medicine path has taken Caro to study our connections with plant kin, meditation and sound as tools of remembrance. Caro believes in the power of building non-human relationships and working in honor, reciprocity and respect with the communities that teach us the ways of remembrance. Her calling is to build space for our remembrance and connection to our own natural rhythms, connection to our hearts and nature with art, plant spirits and meditation as allies.

Caro has facilitated workshops at The Museum of Moving Image, Anima Mundi Herbals, Mycelium Mysteries, Pioneer Works, Spirit Weavers, The Alchemist’s Kitchen and is currently a guest teacher at Wildflower Farms.
